Cary School District 26 is seeking to fill an empty seat on its school board after a board member who served for five years stepped down.Board member Stacey Sault resigned from her position last week, according to a District 26 news release. In the release, Sault said that “she was thankful to have served” on the board for the past five years. “Serving on the school board was the greatest honor, and thank you to the community of Cary who supported me over the years,” Sault said in a statement to Shaw Local. Sault was reelected for a second four-year term just last year. She served as the board’s secretary and previously as the board’s vice president. It is a seemingly sudden departure. Sault was originally delegated to attend the Illinois Association of School Boards Joint Annual Conference next month. Board member Katherine Potter will instead take Sault’s place. The district has 60 days to fill the position and is accepting applications through Nov. 6, Superintendent Sarah Cacciatore
