8 hospitalized after multi-vehicle crash in Back of the Yards — Libertyville Health news

Chicago police are investigating a three-vehicle crash that left eight people hospitalized on Sunday morning. Just after midnight, the driver of a Dodge SUV was traveling northbound in the 5400 block of South Ashland Avenue when they disregarded a red light. The driver then struck two other vehicles, according to police. All six of the occupants in the SUV were taken to area hospitals in fair condition, authorities said. A Chevrolet truck was struck by the SUV in the intersection, and its two occupants were taken to area hospitals in serious condition. A third vehicle was also involved, though the driver of a Ford sedan that was struck in the crash refused medical treatment at the scene. No further information on the crash was immediately available.
